DescriptionA lithograph of HMS Arethusa, a 50-gun fourth-rate sailing frigate of the Royal Navy launched in 1849. The caption on the Print reveals that her commanding officer contemporary to the publishing of the same Print was Captain Thomas Matthew Charles Symonds. In the background, also captioned, are depicted HMS Albion and HMS Brittania, both in league with Arethusa during the naval bombardment at Sevastopol during the Crimean War, which suggests a later dating for this lithograph by Charles de Brockdorf.TechniqueLithograph
