BiographyGiovanni Cavaliere Baglione, born in 1566 and died in 1643 in Rome, was both a painter and biographer of artists, providing important accounts of both himself and over 200 other artists through 2 books of his own publication. Baglione painted mostly religious subjects but also those of mythological subject, making use of the chiaroscuro. He earned knighthood from Paul V for his work in the St Peter's Basilica in Rome.
