BiographyBorn in 1559 in Cigoli and died in 1613 in Rome, Ludovico Cardi da Cigoli was a painter, architect and sculptor during the Baroque and Mannerist period in Italy. He trained and spent most of his life in Florence, until his last few years which he spent in Rome. Cardi experimented in various fields including literature and music and was even a close friend to Galileo Galilei, who is regarded as the father of modern science. He was nominated a Knight of Malta during the last few years of his life.
