DescriptionA watercoloured drawing of HMS Revenge in heavy seas. She served as the flagShip to Rear Admiral Sir Hastings Yelverton from his promotion to Rear Admiral and Second in Command of the Mediterranean Station in 1863 until May 1865. The Painting erroneously claims that a newly-promoted Vice Admiral Yelverton was still served by the Revenge as his flagShip at the time of the Painting, when he had in fact hoisted his flag on HMS Caledonia in 1865. By 1870 he had been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet and hoisted his flag on the HMS Lord Warden from fall of that year.TechniqueWatercolour on paper
