DescriptionA print of the original watercolour painting. The image depicts U.S.S Belknap and Soviet cruiser Slava (Слава) at the first Bush-Gorbachev Summit on 2-3 December 1989 held at Marsaxlokk Bay. The original painting is signed "Ed. Galea Malta '89". Beneath this signature, to the right of the title and description, is the artist's full signature in pencil. The print is displayed within a wooden frame. Slava, nowadays known as Moskva (Москва), was the flagship of the Russian's Black Sea Fleet, and was sank on 14 April 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.InscriptionsOn recto "MALTA SUMMIT by Galea, Edwin U.S.S Belknap and Soviet cruiser Slava at Marsaxlokk Bay during the first Bush-Gorbachev summit on 2-3 December 1989". Offset lith coloured print on quality fine weave art paper. The wooden frame is nailed at each corner, and a wooden backing board secured by a 58mm Kraft wedges is present. A 5mm separator was fitted around the edges of the frame to prevent print from making contact with the glazing.
