DescriptionBadge of Walrus-class Submarine HNLMS Walrus (S 802), vessel of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The submarine entered service in 1992, and has been employed in naval exercises and in combat operations worldwide.
The badge features the ship's motto in a banner, ‘tand om tand’, which is translated from Dutch to ‘tooth for tooth’. A quote which originated from the Old Testament, implying the retaliation of the submarine against enemy attack. In the middle, on a field Argent, a head of a walrus all proper on a blue wavy division of field. Two black anchors cross each other and lie behind the circular part of the badge. At the top lies a naval crown.
InscriptionsOn recto "TAND OM TAND". On verso, written in black ink, top, left "REG. 914 MM/841 9296-7" and note at centre, in black ink "Presented to Mr. A. Espinosa Rodriguez by Jeroem van Faalen CO of HNLMS WALRUS MALTA 14 April 1996".Annotations and MarksOn verso, top gold sticker reads: "Heraldische Wapen Industrie HOOYMAYERS Mercuriusstraat 50 3133 En Vlaardingen Telefoon 010-4349133 Holland".Material
