DescriptionThe badge of the 4th Minesweeping Squadron (4th MSG) which was set up in Wilhelmshaven on 1 October 1958 and remained at this location until it was decommissioned. From 1968, twelve of the total of 18 KM Ships class 320 were converted to mine hunting Ships (MJ Ships) of class 331 A and 331 B. All twelve MJ Ships were placed under the 4th MSG. With the arrival of the Marburg , the conversion was completed in 1979. The badge contains a central shield on a field white, a displayed eagle flying on top of a floating mine on blue waves. This is surrounded by eleven emblems of German cities or towns including: Volklingen, Marburg, Weilheim, Nienburg, Lindau, Gottingen, Minden, Cuxhaven, Koblenz, Wetzlar, and Tubingen.
InscriptionsOn recto "4. MINENSUCHGESCHWADER" and names cities names on each shield "Volklingen", "Marburg", "Weilheim", "Nienburg", "Lindau", "Gottingen", "Minden", "Cuxhaven", "Koblenz", "Wetzlar", "Tubingen". On verso, note at the centre reads "Presented by the Commander of the German Minecountermeasures Group [signed] Strasser Fregattenkapitan". On blue hanging device "Intercrest Heraldic -31-(0)3402-31840 Productions Holland". In black ink top, right corner "Reg 1008 MM/936 9488-9".Material
