Pietro PeruginoItalian, 1448 - 1523

Born in Umbria, Italy, in around 1450 and died in 1523, he is best known for having taught Raphael. He himself was taught by the Florentine painter and sculptor Verrocchio. Perugino's career consisted of mostly wall frescoes which he worked on with other prestigious artists namely Botticelli and Ghirlandaio in the Sistine Chapel. His work continued in Rome and Venice until he ended up back in Umbria where he died at around 73 years of age.
