DescriptionPattern for ship's badge composed of three wooden fragments (circular motif and the upper segments of two sabres) are parts of the badge belonging to H.M.S Lofoten. The badge in its entirety depicts a central circular motif with mountains on wavy pattern. This is superimposed on two crossed sabres.

Launched in January 1945, H.M.S Lofoten was one of the British-built LST’s (Landing Ship Tanks) of the Royal Navy, later converted into the Navy’s first helicopter support ship.

Originally named LST3027, it was stationed in Malta for years and it was also in Malta that the ship was refitted before being deployed during the Suez Crisis, where it took part in the first ever operational helicopter assault in 1956.InscriptionsOn verso, in pencil on each fragment has written "Lofoten"; On recto, in pencil each fragment is numbered .Material
