BiographyEsprit Barthet was a Maltese modern artist born in Valletta. He began his training at the Government School of Arts in Valletta, later continuing his studies at the Regia Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and the Academy of Arts in Bath, England.
By the early 1950s, Barthet was exploring cubism and abstraction. His works are widely represented in public spaces, government offices, and private collections both in Malta and internationally.
In 1944, he married Teresa Borg, with whom he had six children. He passed away on 4 July 1999.
