BiographyAndrea Sacchi (1599–1661) was an Italian painter of the High Baroque period, active mainly in Rome. Known for his classical restraint, clarity, and balanced compositions, he favored few figures over dramatic excess. He was a leading voice of Baroque Classicism and an important influence on later artists, including Carlo Maratta.
