Domenichino Zampieri

BiographyBorn in 1581 in Bologna and died in 1641 in Naples, Domenico Zampieri, also known as the diminutive Domenichino due to his height, was an Italian Baroque painter who studied under Annibale Carracci, during which was working on the Palazzo Farnese. Zampieri was influenced greatly by the works of Raphael and became a very important classical landscape painter. He will come to influence important artists like Claude Gellée and Nicolas Poussin.
